Days 46 and 47: tankless hot water heater installation and more laundry room cabinet work
Day 48: tile delivery
Day 49: installation of bathroom cabinets and the beginning of tile work in the shower
Day 50: more tile work and stump removal...the stump wasn't really necessary for the addition, but it was huge and starting to get fungus-y
Days 51 and 52: tile, tile, tile
That was the last that we've seen of the addition because we left for the beach. It will be our first long-term before and after. I can't WAIT to see how it looks when we get back. Things have been pushed back a bit because of the rain...not because of what it was doing to the inside of the house but what it was doing UNDER the house.
Apparently the original house and property had a major drainage problem (shocker to any of you who remember the plethora of problems we've had with this old house), and changing the landscape with the addition made it worse. The standing water is so bad that our contractor won't even put in the hardwood floors with any moisture under the house whatsoever. Once we get a french drain put in, we can FINALLY get floors. We knew that we would discover more problems original to the old house, and hopefully this is as bad as it gets.
